Writing and Understanding Numbers 1-10 with Auntie Nats

Can you think of an area in life where numbers are irrelevant? The ability to learn and understand numbers is a skill needed to navigate life in the past, present and future. From celebrating birthdays to accessing information, numeracy plays a huge role. Writing and Understanding Numbers 1 to 10 with Auntie Nats seeks to help 2- to 3-year-old learners to develop a solid foundation and an enjoyable, lasting relationship with numbers. Learners will not only learn to count, but will also:

• Learn to form the numbers they will need in order to properly write more numbers as they get older.

• Develop number sense. Number sense is the ability to understand, relate and connect numbers. As a teacher with nearly 30 years of continuous interaction in the classroom, I cannot over-emphasize the importance of the development of this skill.

• Be engaged in the repeated copying, tracing and writing of numbers to boost memory and muscle memory and improve the formation of numbers.

• Have fun using uncluttered pages with large prints.

• Develop language and communication skills as they name and talk about the many pictures in the text.
